During the early 1990s the school served as the set for The Wonder Years when filming the school scenes. Fred Savage among the other teen actors could regularly be seen wandering the halls during filming.
Rosemead High School serves a multi-ethnic student population of approximately 1,900 students. The student population is 56% Hispanic, 35% Asian, and 7% Caucasian with 2% other ethnicities. The median annual income of families served by the school is $31,379.
Rosemead High School requires 220 credits for graduation, including 40 credits in English and 20 in Science, Mathematics and Physical Education, respectively. The school offers Chinese and Spanish as foreign languages. The school also offers a number of advanced placement courses.

The band performs at half time during football games. There are about 60 members in the band. This includes flutes, clarinets, bass clarinets, alto saxophones, tenor saxophones, a baritone sax, trumpets, T.C Baritone, trombones, and tubas. Drum line is composed of snares, quads, bells and bass drums.
They perform with band at field shows and half time during football games as auxiliary. In winter season Banners competes as small military and Colorguard compete as winter guard.
The wrestling team has been a proud and successful tradition at the high school. The wrestling team has won the CIF championship four times, placed 2nd four times, and placed 3rd four times. The team has placed in the top five of CIF 17 times. Individually, the wrestling team has had 148 CIF placers, 49 Masters placers, 19 California state placers, 5 state champions and 1 National Champion.
